The mission of Health Education is to encourage students to identify the benefits of a need for healthy lifestyle choices, through promotion of comprehensive mind/body, wellness, timely marketing and ongoing direct interaction with students, by supporting the development of a campus community that enables those choices.

Health Education hopes to increase student's knowledge about, and awareness of, both positive and negative health behaviors and how these may impact longterm well-being. Although Health Education is located on the northwest corner of campus, you can find us many different places as a part of the UCSB Wellness Program.

Drop-In Centers provide student opportunities to meet with:

Wellness resource professionals in four high-traffic locations weekly:

  • Mondays: The Student Resource Building 12 - 1pm with FREE MASSAGE
  • Tuesdays: The Library 12 - 1pm with FREE MASSAGE
  • Wednesdays: The University Center 12 - 1pm with FREE MASSAGE
  • Thursdays: Carrillo Dining Commons 12 - 1pm

Student wellness representatives weekly at The Bridge to Wellness in the Santa Catalina Residence Hall.

But most often, we're with you on campus, promoting positive health behaviors and having a lot of fun.

  • We're there at Orientation presenting Summer Theater.
  • We're the people that you might see in the arbor with promotional items.
  • We're the people that put up the body image displays and encourage you to Love Your Body.
  • We're the ones passing out water (Project Hydrate), condoms (Condom Alert) and healthy snacks (Operation Snack Attack) on Del Playa to promote moderation and safety when partying.
  • We're there to present alcohol and other drug related movies in IV Theater.
  • We're there in the Tunnel of Love with sexual health information at Sex Affair.
  • We're the ones who offer Mindful Meditation with the stress expert and 10 Minute Massage for $10, a time to come and relax.
  • We're the ones who teach people how to party responsibly during Safe Grad (pledge to NOT drink and drive).
  • We're the ones offering FREE nutritional counseling through the Wellness Program on campus.

But, we couldn't do any of these things without the support of many other departments; The Women's Center, Office of Student Life, Associated Students, Counseling Services, Disabled Students, Educational Opportunities Program, Housing & Residential Services, Exercise & Sports Studies, Dining and many more. Our goal is to be everywhere.
So keep an eye out for us, we'd love to see you around.
