“TIPS”on How to Use Student Health

To make the best use of your time, we recommend that you make an appointment for your visits whenever possible. For an urgent medical problem that needs immediate attention and cannot wait for an appointment, we have “Urgent Care” available. Understandably, you may need to wait to see a clinician since this clinic operates NOT on a first come first served basis, but in order of the severity of the medical problem.

Making an Appointment and What to Expect

There are 3 ways to make an appointment:

  1. Schedule your appointment online
  2. Call 893-3371 and speak with a receptionist
  3. Come in to Student Health and make an appointment at the Appointment Desk in the lobby

Once you make an appointment:

  • Arrive 10-15 minutes early in case there is paperwork to fill out.
  • Check-in
  • Medical Assistant will take your vital signs such as blood pressure and temperature.
  • A doctor, nurse practitioner, or physician's assistant will examine you.
  • You may be instructed to go to the lab or x-ray for testing, physical therapy to make an appointment, or the pharmacy for medication.

Patients must be on time for their appointments. If you are late you may not be seen. A fee of $55 will be assessed for missed appointments ($40 for Physical Therapy). You must cancel your appointment no later than 24 hrs. in advance or a $25 late cancellation fee will be assessed.

If you need any further information, please ask any of our staff members who will gladly answer your questions or direct you to someone who can.

Urgent Care and What to Expect

If you have an urgent problem and need to be seen immediately:

  • Go to the Appointment Desk in the lobby, where your eligibility for services will be verified. You will be scheduled into an appointment for the same day if one is available. If no appointments are available, you will be given an “Urgent Care” pass. In Urgent Care, present the pass and check in.
  • At that time your medical needs will be assessed. Waiting time will vary depending on the severity of your problem.
