Policy
Student Health Service provides physical exams to students and affiliated non-students on a fee-for-service basis. Charges for clinical time, labs, and X-rays associated with physical exams are not subsidized by student reg fees. Nonstudents are subject to higher overhead charges than are student patients.
Procedures
Physical exams are done in the Appointment Clinic during the regular academic year and during Summer Session. At other times, physical exams are done in the Urgent Care Clinic as time allows. These exams are always scheduled in advance.
During the academic year and during Summer Session, the following physical exams require two appointments - one in the prelim clinic and one with a clinician in the Appointment Clinic:
Peace corp
SCUBAM
Deep freeze
Hazmat
Computer billing is automated so that a visit fee is charged for the prelim exam and the balance of the physical exam charge is billed at the time of the appointment with the clinician.
All other exams require only a single appointment with the prelim exam booked for 15 minutes prior to the clinician appointment. The patient is informed that the appointment time is 15 minutes prior to the time of the clinician appointment and the reason column reflects the prelim time. (Ex: 10:00, AC, OTH-PX, Prelim-9:45). In the previous example, the appointment begins at 9:45 and the late policy is in effect with the 9:45 time as the reference point.
For the following physical exams, a single appointment is booked and the total charge of the physical exam is billed at the time the appointment is made:
DMV
Food handlers/CSO’s
Student teacher
Police and rescue
Respirator
General physical
